Thanks for visiting! I’m John Diego—a Texas native and California-trained photographer, now based in Northwest Houston and available for travel nationwide.

From a young age, I was captivated by media. Radio and TV news fascinated me, and I knew early on that a traditional 9-to-5 wasn’t my path. I started shooting for my school paper and yearbook, and that spark never left.

In high school, I landed a job at a radio station, which led to several years in broadcasting and eventually a role as a TV photojournalist for local ABC and NBC affiliates. While I loved the fast-paced nature of news, I often felt creatively stifled. One news director even told me to “stop making pretty pictures of hard news.” That moment pushed me back toward radio—and eventually into freelance voiceover work.

 

After working as a commercial/promo producer and voiceover artist at two of Houston's highest-rated radio stations, 93Q Country and 94 5 The BUZZ it was time to try something new. Freelance voiceover brought me to Southern California, where the scenery and the arrival of my children reignited my enthusiasm for photography. In 2009, I made it my profession. After years of training and refining my style, I earned a spot as a preferred freelance photographer for top L.A. talent agencies—an opportunity that shaped my distinctive, creative approach.
