ABOUT

I'm John Diego—a Texas native, California-trained photographer based in Northwest Houston, working with clients across the country.
My path into photography didn’t start in a studio. It started in newsrooms.
From an early age, I was drawn to media—the pace, the storytelling, the ability to capture something real in a single moment. That led me to shooting for my school paper and yearbook, and eventually into broadcasting, where I worked in radio before becoming a TV photojournalist for ABC and NBC affiliates.

News taught me how to see quickly.
How to anticipate moments.
How to tell a story under pressure.
But it also taught me something else.
At one point, I was told to “stop making pretty pictures of hard news.”
That moment stuck with me—not because it discouraged me, but because it clarified something: I wasn’t interested in average. I was drawn to impact.

That realization eventually pulled me out of news and back into creative work—first through voiceover, working as a commercial and promo producer at 93Q Country and 94.5 The BUZZ, and then into freelance opportunities that took me to Southern California.

Los Angeles changed everything. Working alongside top talent agencies, I refined a style rooted in intention, where lighting, composition, and
expression aren’t accidental. Every frame has a purpose. Every image says something.
That experience shaped how I approach photography today. Whether I’m working with professionals who need to elevate their presence or seniors who want something that actually reflects who they are, my focus is the same.

Create images that don’t just look good but position you differently.
Today, I continue to work in both photography and voiceover, two disciplines built around the same core idea: storytelling.
Different mediums. Same mission.
